Sing Aotearoa conference - Oct 2023

Dear Christine

On behalf of the City of Auckland Singers I would like to congratulate, and thank, you and all your team for a wonderful event.  Everything ran very smoothly.  It was a joyful experience with so many moments of inspiration and celebration.

Such an event takes a tremendous amount of time, energy, organisation and commitment.  We would like to acknowledge your dedication to giving us all opportunities to expand our horizons,  sharing the passion of singing with others, and developing new skills.

With much appreciation,

Sue Murray

Dear Sue

Thank you and the City of Auckland Singers for your joyful and uplifting performance at Sing Aotearoa. I really enjoyed your repertoire and the wonderful energy your singers brought to the stage. Others in the audience commented to me on how much they had enjoyed your performance as well.

Please pass on my congratulations and thanks to the members of your choir, and all the best for the remainder of the year.

Kind regards

Christine

October 2020 The City of Auckland Singers on East FM Saturday arvo.

The City of Auckland Singers is one of the great Kiwi community
choirs, and for its upcoming concert, two of its fine vocalists are
talking about it on The She’ll Be Right on Saturdays with PJ Taylor
on East FM tomorrow arvo.
Lyn and Chris Stevens are happy, active and involved folk in the
eastern communities and they’ve been members of the City of
Auckland Singers for as long as I can remember.
The mighty chorus, was known as the Bruce Murray Singers from
1990-2010. (In 2010 it updated its name to the City of Auckland
Singers in preparation for competing at an international choral
competition in Gorizia, Italy). It has a liking for thoughtfully and
tunefully reworking popular contemporary songs, as well as the
classics.
“We’re working hard to present an enjoyable evening with an eclectic
mix of modern songs, such as those by Ed Sheeran and Pink, a
medley of 1960s music, a country medley and a range of popular
songs and items - something for every taste!” sings Lyn.
And the choir is so looking forward to exercising its beautiful,
strong and harmonic talents. “Like many others, our choir has been
affected by Covid-19,” says Lyn. “We’ve only had one concert this
year at Sapphire Ridge in March, fundraising for our choir trip to
Italy in June to represent New Zealand at a music festival with 1400
participants. “Unfortunately this trip was sadly cancelled due to
Covid-19.”

Reviews – Spring Pops concert, Saturday 17 October 2015

My friend, who came along, said he was …. Sorry ! …. Sorry, that is, that he did not bring along his whole family, to enjoy this wonderful performance and very entertaining evening. Wendell

On Saturday 6 of my friends came and they were full of praises for our choir. They kept thanking me saying that our choir was unique and entertaining. The evening was really worth especially the high quality of singing, fantastic movements, stunning and energetic presentation, memorising all the words, variations in facial expressions, our gifted musicians and the variety of items.

One of my other choir ladys said the singing just filled the whole place and descended upon her.  They kept going on and on.....even when I met them at church yesterday . They loved our costumes as well.

They said they were happy that they came and hoping to hear us sing again. They said the location was convenient and the time. They really appreciated the very nice refreshments. Last but the best is my friends said Sue and Bruce have done a marvellous job in bringing diverse people together, training us to perfection and using our gifts and special individual talents to bring joy to so many people.  Hachila

My boss from work and a few other colleagues were there too and really enjoyed the music and want to know when is the next concert . Mark

Wow! What a fabulous concert you put on on Saturday night...just so well put together. Suzy

Hi Sue and Bruce

On behalf of the Botany Charitable Trust I would like to thanks you most sincerely for your kind gesture in returning the cheque prepared for the CAS for their performance last Friday night.  We are most appreciative and can assure you the extra funds will be well used in the local area.

Please pass on our thanks to the choir members and also the fact that comments expressed by many of those attending highlighted the excellent quality of the choir’s items – obviously very much enjoyed.

Sincerely
